BASIC INFORMATION
Accessibility: The village of Szepetnek is located 7 km south-west of Nagykanizsa. The Berki Creek flows through the settlement. It is easily accessible by road, the nearest railway station is in Nagykanizsa.

Characteristics: The name of the settlement was first mentioned in written documents between 1184 and 1188. 12th century sources mention the village, its church and the teaching going on at the parsonage. First the village was owned by the bishop, later it belonged to the Church of Veszprém. In 1325 it received the privilege to hold weekly fairs. At this time the village was a religious center. In the early 16th century the village became a market town. As a result of the Turkish occupation it became desolate.

Institutions: The village has a library, a kindergarten, a primary school, two churches and a sports field. The new medical facilities include a clinic, a dentist\'s office and a modern pharmacy. Cable television in 56% of the households.
Sights: Baroque Roman Catholic Church built in 1752.
